![]() | Leica Q (Typ 116) Pros: I.Q., DNG format, Razor-sharp lens, fastness, weight, essential menu Cons: No tropicalization for possible use in difficult conditions Opinion: At the current price on the used (which I think will hardly go down further), you have the possibility to use a full frame body and lens combination in a weight of about 650 gr... The menus are reduced to the essentials in perfect Leica style but what you need for a purely photographic use is all there. Fast and precise in autofocus while the manual focus is very reminiscent of the experience of an M lens. Very quiet and discreet, thanks also to the central shutter (even in mechanical use you can't hear it...) I found it excellent for street photography etc. The stabilized lens has personality and excellent image quality, razor-sharp even at full aperture. Moreover, the optics were also used on the subsequent Q2 and Q3 models, confirming its goodness. In addition, the Raw file, being in DNG standard, has already applied the necessary corrections, so it can be safely used with older versions of Lightroom, etc. It makes you want to go out on the street to photograph, giving you an "analogue" experience and, more importantly, allowing you to take home many excellent shots. The choice of the 28 mm equivalent on FF sensor with service diaphragms allows you to have a lot of depth of field, but when you need it you just have to open the diaphragm to obtain a pleasant blur, useful for. e.g. for ambient portraits, etc. If you have more feeling with a 35mm equivalent frame, you can easily use it for this use as well while maintaining sufficient resolution. Personally, shooting only in Dng, I don't use the crop in the camera but I crop very quickly in PP if I realize that I have composed wider than I should. sent on June 25, 2024 |
