![]() | Pentax KP Pros: Robust, reliable, high ISO performance, Image Stabilizer, ergonomics of keys and dials, usable with old lenses Cons: Battery with poor battery life Opinion: I bought it new to replace my more than reliable K20D (.. which I still use with considerable satisfaction..) And from the first shots I was struck by the ease of use and the photographic performance at high ISO, you can easily shoot at 1600/3200 ISO with a more than acceptable noise, and associated with the image stabilizer that does its job very well you can take home qualitatively very good photos even in the dark. In fact, I frequently use it at night, for events, in museums (... where you can take pictures...) where you can't use the flash, and when I go on vacation.... daily I continue to use my old and unstoppable K20D often. I bought two compatible auxiliary batteries with a higher capacity than the original one and I use them in rotation ... on vacation they are necessary as a single battery does not necessarily last all day, especially if you often use the screen, and I also have a battery charger with USB connection that allows me to recharge even in the car or with a power bank (I found the IKEA one excellent) that I always have in my backpack ... For me it is a 9.7 grade... sent on February 17, 2025 |
![]() | Pentax K20D Pros: Robust, reliable, usable with optics even from the 70s Cons: High ISO performance, a bit slow in focusing... but if compared to age.... nothing Opinion: I have been using the K20d for 14 years with great satisfaction... Bought used without lenses because I initially used (and still use...) the lenses of my analog P30N.... Of course, it is not comparable in performance to the most modern ASP-C, FF or ML, but in terms of robustness and ease of use it still gives you a hard time. Used on the boat during the regattas I was able to appreciate the tropicalization and between rain and splashes, even if associated with a 18-200 optic not exactly of quality (the so-called "bottom of the bottle"), I was able to take home a series of shots of remarkable quality in peace. With high ISO it is not usable, the noise is high already starting from 800, but for the use for which I intended it, (battle where you don't want to put expensive equipment at risk, experimentation with optics, filters, duplicators and triple focal lengths, adapter rings and inversion rings, and so on and so forth...) it is perfect. You can find it at modest prices and you can have fun.... sent on June 03, 2024 |
![]() | Nikon Coolpix P5100 Pros: Very robust, bright colors, Cons: A bit slow in focusing in low light, too bad the raw is missing Opinion: I have used this compact car for 10 years with great satisfaction, and still, 20 years after its release, it defends itself very well against the most modern "opponents". I've taken more than 80,000 shots and it still works, even though it starts to lose shots. The lack of the raw format is not felt as the processing software does its job very well. The yield is good up to 800 iso... After that, it's better not to push yourself. It's fixed in the car, thrown into the glove box.... The grade is 10 out of 10....it can't be otherwise for the satisfactions it gave.... sent on May 04, 2024 |
