![]() | Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM Pros: All Cons: None given the price Opinion: My pros and cons speak for themselves. It's the best quality/price Canon lens that anyone can take good pictures with. Either because the 50mm is a lens that is very close to the angle of view of the human eye, or because it is able to isolate subjects with its aperture of F1.8 by detaching the bottom well, with this lens both in FF and APS-C it gives great satisfaction. Do you want to travel? That's your goal; Small and lightweight. Do you want to take portraits? You can do this because the bokeh is beautiful especially when used on APS-C. In short, it is a lens that is now considered almost a kit lens, not for the quality, but because everyone has a 50mm and this, the smallest of the Canon house, really gives good shots. I personally also have the F1.4 version and if I had to resell one of the 2, I certainly wouldn't sell the F1.8 version. If I really have to find a flaw it is the lack of the focusing distance on the barrel that in some cases where you would like to set to a specific distance, well you can't.. ![]() | Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Pros: Bokeh, sharpness, contrast, aperture Cons: Chromatic aberrations, distortion, not very bright Opinion: A lens with an autofocus that is not of the latest generation but that still brings home the result. It takes a while to tame the lens, especially at full aperture because the micro blur is just around the corner as it is not a stabilized lens. It should be noted that despite its openness, the generated raw file has very little appeal because it remains very dark, not very bright. Chromatic aberrations are very present, but nothing that cannot be corrected in post production although, it should be noted that its little brother in plastic (F1.8) behaves much better. Certainly, however, the level of sharpness here is truly remarkable. Already very sharp at F1.8 to be really perfect at 2.8. The bokeh is definitely nice and soft. Would I recommend this lens? Depends on. It is not worth the exorbitant cost when new, just because with a third of its price we take the 50mm F1.8 which is a much higher quality/price lens, however it is a lens that if found at a good price on used, will not disappoint you and will make you take home beautiful shots. sent on October 24, 2023 |
