![]() | Nikon Coolpix P500 Pros: Lightweight and compact, wide zoom range, suitable for all kinds of photography. Zoom handy and versatile, large manual control. Cons: Sharpness often poor, slow autofocus that sometimes stops the machine (maybe it just happens to mine but I do not think), only jpeg. The meter tends to overexpose, I always use at least 1.3 stop less than the default of the machine. ISO truly devastating: you can rarely go above 400. Automatic white balance grossly wrong. Shutter speed not less than 8 "and not more than 1/1500. The depth of field does not go beyond the f / 8 not allowing panning or other effects. Depth of field virtually identical f/3.4 eaf / 8. Opinion: I use it for nature photography, especially birds, and I must say that autofocus is far too slow to allow decent shots, to get good results it takes a lot of experience and patience. I happened repeatedly that, unable to focus properly, the machine were to stop completely. The ISO prevelamente I use are 160, 200 and 400, plus it's really hard to get something. Manual focus very tricky to use but on shutter speed and aperture controls very easy to handle. In the field of macro instead you can get remarkable results since the P500 can focus even from a short distance and you get a good focus. sent on May 03, 2013 |
