![]() | Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Pros: Yield, brightness, weight and size Cons: Materials and lack of a tripod mount (but you can't expect a lightweight lens without compromise) Opinion: I was evaluating the Sony 70–200 and, regardless of the price difference, I realized quite quickly that for me the real discriminator was size and weight. It is a lens that I can wear effortlessly even on the longest days, and this really makes the difference. Using it in the field I realized that it offers me exactly what I am looking for: quality, versatility and a yield that I really like. It quickly became my favorite lens and for about a year now, I have been traveling practically only with this lens and a 35 mm, both in a small travel bag — light, practical and always ready to use. sent on January 02, 2026 |
![]() | Sigma BF Pros: Materials, graphic consistency between menus, optics and machine design, quality optics, sensor, files Cons: Lack of viewfinder, lack of Stacked sensor (or mechanical shutter), attachment for the shoulder strap Opinion: A small, full-frame, beautiful camera built with quality materials. Among the various aspects, what I appreciated most is that Sigma has been attentive not only to the design of the camera but also to the design of the optics (quality) and above all to the graphic consistency with the menu. Obviously the camera is capable of providing quality files with a look almost like that of Leica. I, who am not a professional photographer but shoot for passion, really appreciated this initiative by Sigma that reminded me a lot of the first Fuji xt. For my way of photographing, I am not interested in the 60 mpx of the sensor, the burst or even superfast AI AF tracking algorithms. I look for a camera to shoot every day, at my own pace and since I do it for passion, I can spend even more if I am provided with a tool that is not only performing but also beautiful to look at and touch. Unfortunately, however, in my opinion two fundamental points are missing to make it really usable as a single camera, the first is the electronic viewfinder which is missing and cannot be added even as an option, the second is the problem of rolling shutter. Let's be clear, it has improved a lot compared to FP but we are not there yet. Personally, I use a camera of this type for family photos, to have fun during my outings and I find it unacceptable to have problems in dynamic shots just because the mechanical shutter is missing. As far as I'm concerned, the camera is rejected for these two shortcomings, I appreciate Sigma's effort and I want to say that if it hadn't had these shortcomings that are fundamental to me, it would have been my ideal camera and I would have kept it even if it had cost 500-600€ more. I hope sigma will adjust the shot with a BF more attentive to the needs of photographers or a new FP with a modular design but consistent with the new line of products just presented. Too bad really, it is an incomplete masterpiece. sent on July 26, 2025 |
