![]() | Irix 11mm f/4.0 Pros: Material quality, tropicalization, focus adjustment and locking, distance calibration, "infinity click", hyperfocal distance scale, wide focus range. Cons: It is not stabilized, lack of autofocus ? Forget the star effect on point lights even with smaller apertures. Opinion: Happy owner of the excellent Tamron 15-30 G1, I needed to have a greater angle of view for interior/architectural photos. After the usual searches on the net with conflicting opinions, I chose the "Blackstone" version for better quality control. I'm testing it these days on d850 body and I'm fully satisfied with the performance in general. Considering the width of the angle of view, I'm not experiencing major problems with chromatic and optical aberrations (easily corrected). Sharpness is very good in the center and slightly soft at full aperture corners (f/4) improves noticeably with intermediate apertures. Possibility of using gelatin filters (taken at a ridiculous price but I have not used them yet). Purchased directly on the IRIX website and discounted by 50%, I believe that the value for money is very advantageous. This ultra-wide-angle and linear focal length on FF gives the possibility to incredible new photographic ideas. I found in some of my photos a poor sharpness at the edges due to my non-perpendicularity in the shooting and not for the optics. It is not an easy lens to use. Personally I highly recommend it. sent on September 12, 2025 |
