Reviews of cameras, lenses, tripods, heads and other accessories written by Jim Bracegirdle

samyang_8_fisheyeSamyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye

Pros: A very good fisheye coverage for my APS-C camera (40D Canon). An inexpensive lens. The build is very good. Focus is very smooth and easy.

Cons: There are no problems with this lens.

Opinion: After reading the article by Juza last Nov. 30th. 2012 ""The APS-C fisheyes: Sigma 4.5mm and 10 mm" I have been searching for a used (pre-loved) fisheye lens. I found a used 8mm Bower f 3.5 which is the same as a Samyang 8mm. This is a very good lens for a cropped sensor camera and I am pleased with the quality. The manual operation is not a problem for photographers who have been taking pictures since the old film days when manual focus was normal. As others have said before me, this is a good inexpensive alternative, for photographers to try the fisheye viewpoint. Regards. Jim.
