![]() | Fujifilm XF 23mm f/2.8 R WR Pros: Amazing yield for a pancake Cons: Nothing if you know what you're buying. Opinion: I had the 27mm in both models and I have always appreciated the convenience of a small lens to carry with me every day on the xt 30 II, even if that focal length has never been entirely congenial to me. Comparing it with the other fixed cameras in my possession (16 f/2.8, 23 f/2, 35 f/2 and 50 f/2) I have always noticed an overall lower performance, although not by much. As soon as this 23 mm came out I bought it immediately also because it is the focal length I prefer. The construction is excellent and conveys a nice feeling of solidity despite the really compact size. Focusing speed has surprisingly improved and, while its f2/0 sibling is perhaps still slightly quicker in low light, this one remarkably surpasses it in terms of sharpness. The focusing noise compared to the 27mm is much decreased, it is still slightly perceived, but if you don't make videos it is absolutely not annoying. The blur is very pleasant bearing in mind that we are talking about a pancake. The lens hood is rather ugly ugly, the same as the 27 (which mine had supplied). Having to choose between this pancake and the 23 f/2, the only real point in favor of the latter is, in my opinion, the extra stop. Those who have to work in low light conditions will probably not consider either and will go for the 23 f1.4! sent on January 17, 2026 |
