![]() | Mitakon Creator 85mm f/2.8 1-5X Super Macro Pros: Robust, wide magnification fan, distance from the remarkable subject, pleasant blurry. Cons: A little excessive weight (about 750g), perceptible diffraction at focal ratios greater than f5.6, almost non-existent contrasts, peripheral lights that break down the image. Opinion: Purchased for Canon, EF attack. The revised version certainly eliminated a number of issues related to the first batch that was put on the market. It is a very robust lens, with fluid zoom and without games, even if it has a little resistance to rotation, but it is deliberately made like this. Being able to work at really remarkable distances is wonderful, especially for subjects who do not collaborate much when trying to push a little with magnification. Personally, I use it freehand because of the subjects I usually shoot and I must admit that the only difficulty encountered lies in long supporting the machine body, which led me to the use of a monopiede so as not to tire the hand too much. Speaking of defects, well, there are: at f4 from the best of itself, but the diffraction is quite oppressive in this perspective, perceptible slightly already at f5.6 and really unbearable to f8. The depth of field is really derisory even at 1:1 magnification ratios and, not being able to close the diaphragm to increase it for the reasons described above, it becomes a lens that, for the money spent, is not worth much. In addition, according to the background, it would seem that the peripheral light defines the dominant coloring also on the filmed subject, distorting its original coloring. To be clear, I got much nicer and cleaner shots using extension tubes, additional lenses, and inverted optics. If a lens born to be macro can not offer better, I do not feel the reason to use it, nor, much less, to recommend it. sent on May 07, 2021 |
