nikon_d3300Nikon D3300

Pros: Value for money, solid, essential and functional construction

Cons: over time it could be "too essential", operational speed in 2025

Opinion: This camera is the perfect answer if you are looking for a resistant, compact, no-frills reflex, but at the same time cheap and capable of pulling out excellent shots. The construction is perfectly in line with Nikon's standards, that is, almost perfect, I have used this body without problems for years, without giving it much consideration and it certainly never complained, even after falls or sessions in light rain. Despite the compact size and low weight, the ergonomics are excellent, I have large hands and despite this the little finger does not come out of the figure of the camera, and I can shoot for a long time without having discomfort. The user experience is also improved by the position of all, few, keys, placed where you would expect it. The quality of the files that this sensor manages to churn out is very good, the 24 mega pixels are a perfect compromise between definition and ISO tightness, also the raw are light and will not give problems even if worked on computers that are not very new (about 20mb). The resistance to high iso could be a limit for some, even if for what is my use I hardly use it above 1600iso, a value at which it still copes, at 3200 the noise becomes much more intrusive, especially if the photo is not exposed correctly and you have to go and recover underexposed areas in post. The huge range of lenses available is another of its pluses, absolutely to be taken into consideration, especially if you look at the second-hand market. The battery has a satisfactory lifespan. Clearly, being an entry level body, you have to make some compromises, fully justified by a price that is absolutely affordable today (

nikon_18-105dx_vrNikon AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

Pros: versatility, cost, AF, VR

Cons: edge sharpness, distortion around 18mm, microcontrast

Opinion: A classic economic all-rounder, from whom miracles cannot be expected. The construction is in my opinion discreet and functional, albeit plastic. The focal range allows you to use it in many circumstances, which makes it excellent for approaching photography without investing much, or to keep as a spare or emergency lens, but it certainly does not make you want to be used. The focus is acceptable. As a con, it certainly has sharpness, really low at maximum aperture, improves around f.8, but remains degraded on the edges in any case, at all focal lengths. It suffers from slight chromatic aberrations and fixable vignetting, I wouldn't point to that as the main problem. A big problem, however, if you do street, architecture or landscaping, can be the distortion, which is really present and annoying, at 18mm almost unusable in these cases. In addition, photos with this lens have low microcontrast and little character, the colors are acceptable. The lens is clearly dark, but it is something that can already be guessed by reading the technical sheet, so I would not include it in the defects. In conclusion, I can recommend this lens only if you want to spend as little as possible and have a very ductile object, and not having quality claims, which probably will not be satisfied
