Panasonic G100 Pros: Size and weight, photo and video quality, automatic parameters, viewfinder and display, color profiles, audio, versatility, stabilization (depends) Cons: Battery life, stabilization (depends) Opinion: Camera advertised as a "vlog camera", it is actually a real versatile camera for anything. The videos are amazing! I bought it especially for those, both in the vlogging field and in the most professional field. Excellent management of automatic parameters to make vlogs such as autofocus and exposure. Tracking and face id work well. The photos are also really of the highest quality, both in raw and jpeg. It weighs very little and is very compact, so great on any occasion. I would almost say it is "pocket"(of course DO NOT put it in your pocket!). It has already installed high quality color profiles such as the Cinelike D and Vlog to turn in flat profile. This is really a turning point (and you avoid paying €100). Very interesting slow motion at 50fps or 100fps constant, really amazing! Really great displays and viewfinders, lots of assignable function keys and parameters that can be made visible on screen to help us in the composition. The audio of the brand new Nokia OZO system is a BOMB! You can make outdoor videos with traffic in the background without carrying an external microphone. The audio is super customizable according to needs (shooting from the front, audio-tracking, surround, front...). Stabilization is a complex point: the machine has stabilization possibly active ONLY if you use lenses with electronic triggers. If you use vintage lenses or adapted without electronic grafting, then stabilization is totally lost. When it is active it is really performing. The kit lens (the 12-32mm) is actually amazing, but in hindsight you'll find yourself tight to use only that. The battery doesn't last too long, especially if you're on set a long time. Problem that can be solved by buying other batteries (they do not cost much). The maximum ISOs I recommend are 1600 in the video and MAYBE 3200 in photos at most, but avoid because you will find yourself banging your head in post-production to eliminate noise. Like all micro 4/3 bodies it does not have great resistance to high iso, so do not push it too much and use light lenses. Versatile, comfortable and lightweight HYPER camera. This is my ultimate machine body for everything: vlogs, travel, work on set. sent on January 26, 2021 |
