fujifilm_xt1Fujifilm X-T1

Pros: Rings, sensor yield, construction, film simulations, viewfinder... still in 2021 makes very good.

Cons: AF in low light, not really long-lived batteries, cladding dinghy that over time may come off.

Opinion: Still in 2021 he can calmly say his own. It is an excellent machine, very pleasant to use, solid and compact. Even though I have big hands, ergonomics doesn't suffer, and it falls into my hand very well. Honorable mention to the rings, only the noise produced while rotating them deserves purchase. The AF is very usable and quite precise, but in conditions of low light or important contrast it suffers a little. AFC just enough, does its job. Note of merit for the viewfinder, always fluid and quite faithful to real colors, with a little lag exclusively in extended dynamic range mode. The sensor is really great, it returns beautiful images with beautiful shades of color, but do not ask him crop because with 16 MP they are not feasible, if not very small. Excellent jpeg as per fuji tradition, with the possibility to make changes directly in the room, with interesting and certainly comfortable results for those who do not want to spend hours working on the PC and for those who want to immediately share the shot taken. Nonetheless, raw is very workable, especially with capture one express which for fuji is free. Rendered at high ISO interesting, the grain over 1600 is there, but only over 4000 becomes clearly visible, while maintaining a very, very "retro" look that does not mind at all (I also shot at 12800 and 25600 without hesitation). Batteries do what they can, which is generally no more than 350 shots. Dinghy with time tend to come off, especially in the corner under directional arrows, a known but annoying defect. To sum up, it is an excellent machine in many respects, it can still say its own, it makes it very well both with proprietary optics and with viltrox, and does not make you regret the FF, both in terms of yield and in terms of maintenance costs, and in terms of size. If undecided, take it, you find business to date, and among other things it is also easily resaleable.

sigma_105macro_osSigma 105mm f/2.8 Macro DG OS HSM

Pros: Stabilizer, construction, sharpness, focus limiter.

Cons: Weight, sometimes inconstant focus, somewhat chilly colors, bokeh.

Opinion: Good lens overall. Purchased for portraiture, with the possibility to do some details, and used only every now and then for the macro. Great stabilizer, but noisy. Inconstant focus, even with the selector it happens to pale and face back and forth for some time, forcing you to correct manually. (Used on 5D mark II.) There was a good lens overall, but for me also on FF the focal is long for the use I make of it. I didn't like the colors very much, I consider them not bright and "alive", along with the bokeh, cute but nothing exceptional. The sharpness is still excellent, like many sigma, as well as the construction, decidedly solid and heavy just to realize it, but not too much to fatigue. Eventually sold to fund more. For its main application, the macro, it is definitely a good goal, those few shots I did do it justice. But if, as I did, you think about buying this lens for portraiture and some precision shots, for example a close-up in the eyes, you might really be disappointed.
