avatarBest compact travel camera with a very fast/bright fixed zoom telephoto lens: just a dream?
in Discussion Forum 30 Novembre 2022, 15:09

Hi, I want to buy a very compact camera with at least 1 inch full sensor size (at least 20 megapixels), (no APC no 3/4 sensor please), with a very powerful zoom (it means: from wide angle to truly telephoto lens), that must be also very bright (ie. not more than F2.8 in any condition) and with great image quality even in low light and very good image at ISO at least up to 6400.

Provably in the market, with a fixed zoom lens there is NOT anything like that!

Some might be ok but the camera body is NOT a real compact camera for travel photo.

I need something semi pro.

After a lot of research I have came out with 2 possible options:

1. Option A: Canon Powershoot G5 X Mark II

2. Option B: Sony Cybershoot RX100 V

They both have a bright zoom (up to F2,8 and zoom around 120mm).

Because Canon has the ND filter and by looking overall side by side comments in the web I came to the conclusion that probably Canon is the best beat.

Do you agree?

Any other option? Ideally, a zoom a bit bigger (almost up to 200mm in the 35mm world) would be perfect, BUT I did NOT find in the market anything that has also a fast/bright zoom lens and that is also a fixed lens (no interchange) and the camera itself is very lightweight and compact.

I am wondering if you have anything else to consider? (ie. camera sony a6600 is too bulky and the lens is not fixed making the final camera+lens too bulky/heavy)
TIA.

Puffo.
