![]() | Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC OS HSM Macro Pros: Versatile Cons: not perfect color rendering; not very sharp at lengths over 50 mm Opinion: Low cost, very versatile for travel photography. I use it as an excellent all-rounder yield at 17 mm. At the longer lengths it loses its sharpness; if I can allow it from 40-50 mm I stop using it, preferring a fixed lens (type 50mm) because in portraits it does not make much. color rendering not always beautiful, especially with little light. My lens has an insensitid autofocus, it often focuss behind the subject. sent on November 28, 2020 |
![]() | Nikon 105mm f/2.8 AF Micro Pros: very robust, spectacular yield Cons: Slow AF Opinion: I bought the 105 micro used many years ago, making it a use for naturalistic macro even in very difficult field conditions (cave, marshes...) The yield is simply perfect, from 1:1 to infinity. Apart from the sharpness (which is obviously excellent) I especially appreciate the soft rendering of the colors and the always very pleasant blurry The main defect is the self-focus. In macro, the AF struggles to keep behind the small movements of the photographer or subject. When photographing distant objects, the AF is decidedly slow. Very robust. A few years ago at the exit of a cave my car made a jump of over 10 meters into the woods (with the case). The lens remained fully functional, the shot slightly slowed down the autofocus (and the photoriparator managed to put it back in place for a few tens of €) sent on November 28, 2020 |
![]() | Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM C Pros: weight, sharpness, stabilizer Cons: dark; diaphragms have problems on old bodies Opinion: I bought it used at a very low price. I chose it for mountain expeditions, where weight really matters. Having a canvas of less than 1kg allows you to take otherwise impossible photos. Excellent sharpness, excellent stabilizer yield, which allows you to shoot smoothly even at 400mm. Very fast and precise autofocus. A little weak in the blurry, which are not soft enough. I also used it on an old body (D90). In theory, it's not compatible. It actually snaps without any particular problems, apart from the fact that the diaphragms always remain open to maximum openness. Consading that the lens is rather dark, the problem is not dramatic... sent on November 28, 2020 |
