![]() | Panasonic Lumix S 18mm f/1.8 Pros: Sharpness, lightness, compactness, tropicalized, 67mm filters Cons: Bokeh not gorgeous (still good), coma at the corners at full aperture to infinity Opinion: I was undecided whether to get this Lumix 18mm f1.8 or the Milvus 18mm f2.8. In the end I opted for the Lumix and I'm super happy with the decision because walking around with this lens is a pleasure! Among the Lumix S F1.8 lenses, this is certainly the one that he has done best. Couple it with the 24-60mm f2.8 and the 85mm f1.8, in less than 1200g you have an excellent kit of lenses. sent on November 10, 2025 |
![]() | Panasonic Lumix S 24-60mm f/2.8 Pros: Light, compact, sharp, detaches well, tropicalized Cons: Some chromatic aberration (corrected in the room), blur not always soft Opinion: This Lumix 24-60mm f2.8 is a great lens, replacing my 20-60mm, for light rides, for when I travel and for corporate videos. It has a Zeiss-like rendering, with a slightly higher contrast, but still with a good sense of separation of planes. The rendering of the blur is quite good and soft with subjects up to 1.5m away, then it becomes progressively nervous due to some lateral and longitudinal chromatic aberration. The color rendition is clean once you reach F5.6, as well as the sharpness throughout the 3:2 frame. In my opinion it is the lens with the highest value for money in the L-Mount. I still prefer the Lumix 24-70mm F2.8 S-Pro as a general rendering for serious stuff. I received this lens from Panasonic as a long-term loan, with no obligation. Just for clarity! Some examples of the lens can be found in my YT channel: https://youtu.be/V8cwEWmeuGM sent on October 23, 2025 |
![]() | Panasonic Lumix S 50mm f/1.8 Pros: Tropicalization, absence of focus breathing, homogeneous rendering on the frame, soft bokeh Cons: I had a copy that had several optical problems, replaced under warranty with a perfect copy. Opinion: Update: I had the lens checked by a technician and it was replaced under warranty because it had a problem (an internal element chipped in the edge, factory defect). The new model is excellent and I do not find any problem of blue chromatic aberrations or poor sharpness. If you happen to have a lens in your hands that does not convince you, maybe have it checked. I leave a summary, from the first opinion, of the optical problems I found with the unit 'defective: - Problem of poor sharpness even if closed at f4 - The lens suffers from extreme blue chromatic aberrations on the point of focus, magenta behind and green in front... It is impossible to fix the image without losing important color information. - AF motor that sometimes freezes sent on November 07, 2022 |
![]() | Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan 75 f/1.9 II Pros: The portrait lens! Image rendering, lightweight, compact, well built, 15 diaphragm slats Cons: Spherical aberration when used at f1.9, but disappear at f2.4 Opinion: As with the primoplan 58mm f1.9, this lens is able to create truly beautiful and particular images! I can safely say that it is my favorite lens for portraits. I find it much more interesting than the Summicron R 90mm f2, thanks to the slight swirl of the background. At f1.9 it has a very strong character, due to spherical aberration, and I prefer to use it at f2.4 where the contrast level is optimal. It is a lens to have in the kit if you like a similar yield to the Cooke Speed Panchro. Video review: https://youtu.be/3aDuLmbWRSE sent on June 26, 2022 |
![]() | Meyer Gorlitz Primoplan 58mm f/1.9 Pros: Image rendering, lightweight, compact, well built, 14 diaphragm slats Cons: Spherical aberration when used at f1.9, but disappear at f2.4 Opinion: A Mr. Target! It is a lens for those who know what they want, that is to create images with a very particular and artistic rendering. Everything open is nice sharp, but with a low contrast caused by spherical aberrations. Once closed at f2.4 it behaves like a normal lens, but with a strong character regarding the swirl in the background. It is a lens that I would recommend to those who like to paint with the camera. ![]() | Panasonic S5 Pros: Lightweight, good grip, fast ignition, excellent image quality in photos, video quality at the levels of cinema cameras. Cons: For the price, none... maybe some small defects of ergonomics and controls in the room. Opinion: I have been using it for practically a year for work, both for videos and photos, and I find it excellent! Obviously the S1 is much better than the S5, in fact I took the S5 as a B-cam for the S1. In this link you can find a video review in English, where I also explain how to activate the internal 5.1k video recording and how to improve battery life. https://youtu.be/uyv8Cj6U0sI sent on December 24, 2021 |
![]() | Panasonic S1 Pros: Ergonomics, weight and stabilization, WB car, dynamic range, fantastic and customizable JPEG, Arri colors, fast in changing settings, touch screens, connectivity, sturdy, you can soak it in the lake and stay quiet, V-Log. Cons: Unreliable autofocus for videos, lent photo burst for those who play sports with 6fps, limited and slow optical park (not a problem for me, I use only two lenses) Opinion: This, for my work, is the ultimate camera/camera. It takes fantastic photos and almost always in focus, only at 105mm is a little slow focus in some critical situations. Video side is sublime, I preferred it to bmpc4k for Ibis, tropicalization, Arri colors and I am hugely satisfied! If they were to distribute more affordable lenses, surely the Lumix S system will see the light... otherwise they risk sinking, given the competition. sent on January 12, 2020 |
