Minolta DiMAGE A200

Pros: Very Sharp image quality for it's age, beautiful macro photos, unique portrait photos, very decent for photographing skateboarders, amazing for close up shots of flowers and wildlife.

Cons: Landscape images don't have good definition, can't take photos with unnatural indoor lighting, struggles with low light in forest settings, blurry if subject moves too fast, cannot zoom in enough for photographing birds.

Opinion: I love this camera, it's the unique way it captures light. The aged, yet sharp and clear look of the photos is what appeals to me. It just has such a nostalgic quality that reminds me of an old magazine or textbook, or family album. Taking photos of skateboarders and BMX riders have a feeling like they came from an old magazine. The slight blur from parts of photos, especially the skateboard ones, actually adds to the nostalgia feeling, it stands out showing that movment action being performed. Of course that blur is not so great when trying to photograph birds or animals, but for action sports looks very cool. I just love the way it captures light for portraits. The f/2.8 to f/3.5 aperture adds that perfect background blur allowing the subject to stand out. I find that my newer cannon camera just can't compare when it comes to the way this Konica Minolta captures light and color. The pictures are slightly darker, cooler and still have an amazing amount of definition. The colors feel much more realistic to what the human eye sees. This camera overall is amazing for 2004, even standing up to my modern cannon PowerShot sx60hs (2015) I really wish Konica Minolta would have stayed in the camera business. They would have been in direct competition with Sony. Its no wonder why Sony bought the rights to their camera division and integrated their technology into Sony.
