![]() | Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 25mm f/1.8 Pros: Sharpness, colour rendition, micro-contrast Cons: Chromatic aberration, price of the new Opinion: I have this lens for a few months, purchased used to replace the Sigma 19 because the latter has never convinced me completely. The Zuiko 25 1.8 instead I find it an excellent lens in terms of optical quality, with a very accurate color rendition, excellent contrast and micro-contrast and a very high sharpness from opening up to F8 both in the center and at the edges. In my opinion is usable to maximum up to F11 then the image quality begins to degrade due to diffraction. Also the AF is very fast and quiet. The build quality is good even if the barrel is made of plastic material (polycarbonate) and is equipped with a series of lens hoods always made of plastic. The most obvious defect I have found is a chromatic aberration at the edges in high contrast situations (e.g. branches of trees against the clear sky), however correctable in PP. Ultimately, at the price of the new that I find a little high, I think that for those who appreciate the standard focal the Zuiko 25 1.8 is a high quality optics that deserves to be taken into account. sent on November 12, 2018 |
