samyang_af50_f1-4iiSamyang AF 50mm f/1.4 FE II

Pros: Lightweight, good construction, great blur quality

Cons: Not much sharpness at the edges

Opinion: Well built lens even if a bit plastic. The dimensions are not very small but it is light. Very sharp in the center, less at the edges. At the wider apertures he suffers a bit of spherochromatism. The blur is very nice and the out-of-focus light points have almost no "onion" effect, as on much more expensive lenses. I really liked the idea of the ring that can also be used to adjust the diaphragm. I tested it by comparing it to the Sony 50mm f/2.5 "G" and the Sony 55mm f/1.8 "Zeiss" and, although in the end it is not what I preferred, it seemed to me a great lens (if anyone wants to see the images I used for the test, they can go to my site www.marcograssi.it).

sony_fe50_f2-5gSony FE 50mm f/2.5 G

Pros: Lightweight, well built, decliccabile diaphragm ring, space-saving hood

Cons: Blurred a bit hard and visible onion effect in the points of light out of focus

Opinion: Well built goal. Sharp already at full aperture and suffers little from spherochromatism. The blur is not the "top" but that's probably not why it was designed. I really liked the idea of the diaphragm ring to which you can remove the "click" (not only for photos but also for video). I tested it comparing it to the Sony 55mm f/1.8 "Zeiss" and the Samyang 50mm FE II and, although in the end it is not what I preferred, it seemed to me a great lens (if someone wants to see the images I used for the test, they can go to my site www.marcograssi.it).

sony_fe55_f1-8zaSony FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Sonnar T*

Pros: Sharpness, overall appearance, weight and small size

Cons: Spherochromatism up to f/2.8

Opinion: Very nice lens, with excellent construction. Sharp already at full aperture and with a beautiful blur. He suffers a bit of spherochromatism which in my opinion is his only major flaw. I tested it comparing it to the Sony 50 f/2.5 "G" and the Samyang 50mm FE II and (in my very personal test) it turned out to be the one I preferred to the three. (if anyone wants to see the images I used for the test, they can go to my site www.marcograssi.it).
