![]() | Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Pros: Value for money and value retention used. Very good construction (better than L-series with RF mount)fast and accurate USM autofocus adapted to eos R internal focus Cons: Chromatic aberrations at TA, expensive lens hood Opinion: I had it and sold it after using it on aps-c reflex but I then bought it again. True love was born using it on R6 and R5 also thanks to UBIS but above all for the focus accuracy. Compact, lightweight, sharp. To reduce the CA I learned to always use it above f 2.2. It is useless to have hyper-corrected lenses if you do not carry them with you due to excessive weight and size. Those who complain about the plastic construction in my opinion are wrong, those who claim it has a worse AF than the 50 1.4 EF even more (it's pacifoco, being microUSM) The counterfeit lens hood that I used on all my non-L lenses where those canon rabbis do not include, are not good for the 85 given its particular mount. The original canon costs a lot but it works well. If you want the perfect lens in 200% crops, this is not it. If you want the lens that will never be missing in your camera backpack, get it, there is no equally compact and autofocus alternative on the market. L f 2 RF can remain on the shelf if it has not been taken out of production like the 50 1.4 sent on April 29, 2025 |
