![]() | Pentax-D FA* HD 50mm f/1.4 SDM AW Pros: Resolution, Blur, AUTOFOCUS, build quality, lens hood, MF bezel Cons: Price Opinion: Difficult to describe this lens, the feeling that you try to use it and surrender because the whole is beautiful; One has the feeling of using a future goal, with a technical/technological gap abysmal compared to the old optics; The resolution is incredible, never before seen a perspective that 1.4 had such a stellar definition to see the pixels sharp, all seasoned by a beautiful blur. Resolution therefore that does not require any deepening, you find as much as you want from 1.4 at least up to 5.6; The blur is fabulous, the three-dimensionality of the lens is exaggerated; Impressive contrast from TA! The AF is something unusual for the Pentax world; Never seen a similar velocity; It can pass in a moment from 1 meter to infinity, with a total noiselessness, almost not to understand if the AF is active or not; The precision is more than excellent, given that at close distances and at TA can snath a few mm; On the other hand the manual focus or a possible correction is particularly easy, ring with sliding and fabulous friction, also excellent the switch on the barrel that works without any impointing. The mechanical construction is beautiful, stuff from the old 85 STAR, with a fantastic lens hood that blends well with the side profile of the lens; Using it is a pleasure. The aberrations are visible only in extreme conditions or very difficult, however always far below the optics like the Stars for APSC and then we talk about a portraiture optics; Not even remotely close to 50 FA 1.4 or 55 1.4 star; These goals are not an alternative but two worlds below! I think is the top ever achieved by Pentax, at least to date, since in 2019 will have to exit the new 85 1.4! Does it cost too much? Perhaps but compared to the 55 * or the 43 limited are better spent in this "obese"! sent on February 07, 2019 |
