canon_rf14-35_f4Canon RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM

Pros: Compactness, full made in Japan, quality

Cons: Beyond the high price, if one knows what to buy I would say nothing

Opinion: Purchased a week ago to replace my beloved Zeiss Distagon 21mm from which I parted for reasons of practicality. I used the Zeiss always closed beyond f4 to maximize sharpness, exclusively for landscapes. I imagined it would have been hard to live memories of the splendid yield that had that goal, and instead I have to change my mind totally: moving to the RF now I finally have all the native RF lens park, so I removed the adapter that despite being excellent is still an extra piece, the weight even to say it is definitely in favor of the RF and the yield is incredible at all focal lengths, slightly less sharp at 35 but closing a hair returns to perform beautifully. It brings with it all the advantages of the RF L system (customizable ring and stabilization) and alas also the price, decidedly high for "an f4" but trust me, once mounted on an RF body it will become your reference landscape optics. Bringing me this lens on an excursion over (2000mt of positive difference in height) does not make me regret the 15-35 2.8 and absolutely not the Distagon.

canon_rf50_f1-8stmCanon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM

Pros: Price, lightness

Cons: For the price none

Opinion: With the RP, next to the 35RF 1.8 forms an excellent travel and reportage kit. Very light and compact, too bad that they do not include the hood but with just over twenty euros you buy its original. I took it to replace the old EF 50mm 1.4 and at the moment I am satisfied with the choice, both in terms of sharpness with the same aperture and in terms of solidity, despite the plastic shell is still well made. In short, a fifty that given the price is to have on the stock exchange practically always!

canon_rf70-200_f4lCanon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM

Pros: Lightness, compactness and sharpness

Cons: At the moment nothing

Opinion: Arrived this morning, the ultralight jewel that had appeared in the first reviews of some time ago is confirmed. My back will be enthusiastic about the very low weight, it is indisputably an L series, with all the advantages of the case. Autofocus is practically imperceptible from how fast and quiet it is. On my RP it turns out a little "unbalanced" on the front, the body machine is really small by comparison, I do not know if the tripod ring (present on the "big brother" RF 2.8 L) would have benefited in this regard, but surely it would have required a little more space. From the first tests it seems really very sharp all over the frame, as I take photos I will update the review, at the moment I am really very satisfied, not only with this particular goal, but with the entire RF line. EDIT: There's a moving part in the front element (I think inherent in stabilization) that swings a lot with the camera off, don't worry, it's completely normal (I think :P at least at the moment it seems to me that stabilization works flawlessly)

samyang_14Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical

Pros: Price, lightness

Cons: Borders, Focus

Opinion: Taking into account the price the rating can not be too low, it is a great "school ship" for those who venture into the world of super-wide, all open has not too good edges while making more or less consistently well in the center, at all openings. From f5.6 onwards it starts to improve on the edges but not significantly. The distortion is very pronounced, but at this price one can expect it. The construction is good in my opinion, it looks very solid. To improve the metric scale on the barrel: working in hyperfocal using only metric references is almost impossible, you have to resort to the machine's viewfinder/screen to know the exact distance (always if the machine on which you mount it supports it)

canon_rf35_macroCanon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM

Pros: Lightness, AF, macro, compactness, noiselessness, programmable ring nut, stabilizing

Cons: Lack of references on the barrel

Opinion: Bought in well-known physical store and mounted asap on my RP, typical Canon colors and very pleasant bokeh. The autofocus is extremely silent and coupled to the RP forms a really balanced pair like a Japanese katana. Needless to stand to decage the characteristics of a 35mm, since already basic does not disdain any "field": From street to landscapes, from photojournalism to portraits set, but the macro mode (minimum distance 17cm) on this optic extends even more the Potential. It's not weather sealed it's true, but I use some non-tropicalized Canon optics for years, in the most disparate (and desperate) weather conditions (salt water on moher, blizzards, etc...) and I have never encountered any kind of problem until now (doing all the Possible avoids:D). Moreover, the front lens is really "small" considering the brightness, so it remains discreet and above all less prone to bumps and scratches (on the other hand the rear lens is gigantic), the value of the new Mount RF that I think will give a lot of satisfaction. Ok, finish the praises is the moment of criticism: Why in Canon have stopped marking the metric references on barrels? They are very useful! Especially in a room like the RP that doesn't have a small screen on top that reports the summary of the settings. I want the metric scale back! It's also nice to see if we want to...

canon_eos_rpCanon EOS RP

Pros: Lightness, sensor, affordable price, adjustable screen

Cons: System imbalance with "important" optics such as 70-200 L, battery life

Opinion: I have it for too little time to provide a detailed review, so I will update the review as time goes by. After years of school with the 40d, the RP seems an object arrived from the future: it falls very well in hand, all commands are in the right place and coming from Canon the learning curve (although between my previous model and this run 12 years) is negligible. The touchscreen has a better sensitivity than some smartphones that are on the market, great job Canon. The first impressions on the quality of this instrument are excellent, the yield of the sensor I like very much, the autofocus is very quick, and the coupled with the drag on touchscreen is phenomenal. The eye AF is an interesting and nice feature but little usable in the "real world". I still have to get used to the EVF (but coming from an optical viewfinder I think is normal), very useful the function of focus peaking. With the new 35mm RF the machine achieves a distribution and ergonomics worthy of a Japanese katana, with the 70-200 2.8 L II Instead the situation becomes strange: it seems to shoot only with the optics, but I think that this is a characteristic common to all modern Mirrorless. I will take her shortly on some journey and I will experience her where my fida 40d has never betrayed me: the mountain (even in prohibitive conditions with snow, temperatures under I-15 and so on), I'll keep you updated. (unfortunately I will not be able to give you reviews regarding the video compartment, since I only use it as a camera, but so on two feet I do not think is the appropriate tool for a videomaker)
