om_system_om1OM System OM-1

Pros: Autofocus, Battery, Viewfinder, high workability at high iso.

Cons: Jpeg still not up to FF after 3200 iso.

Opinion: I state that I am the owner of double system both FF (Nikon d4s + 750) and 4/3. I had ALL om-Ds and now I've switched to OM1. I use the 4/3 because of the weight in my camper trips where I consider the car an ideal companion for landscaping and street. But I am also a sports photographer and when I travel, where the situation allows, I prefer it to the FF and the heavy 400 2.8 + D4s. I am perfectly aware of the limitations but also of the advantages of this system. The OM1 "finally" aimed to break down the gap towards the full format thanks to the new stacked sensor and there is... "Almost" successful. Up to 3200 the difference is really minimal if we talk about JPEG, if we refer instead to raw wings, then there is to discuss for hours, because this machine can "play" with the much more expensive flagships winning on the weight and also on the autofocus with many of these. I'm sorry that they did not use the AI technology of the proprietary program directly in the car but to get a jpeg without grain it needs to process the raw file from a computer (compatible and not all are) which makes it impossible or very limiting the use of sports at high iso (amateur sports and not well lit arenas). If you work with large amounts of files such as in sports, know that this machine will make things easy for you up to 3200 iso, which on a 4/3 can very well be compared to a 5000 iso of an FF because of the PDC. In fact, I remind you that with a 4/3 you can safely shoot at maximum aperture without too many "problems" and without fear of the deformations of the optics. The quality is much closer to that of a full format but still not the same thing, at least if you compare it to FF like Nikon d4s or 750 (with which I compared it) obviously I repeat I speak of JPEG. The viewfinder is much improved but only during the day, in the absence of light in fact I spread a pitiful veil. The autofocus is scary and the sharpness and quality of the photo is even better than the Em1 MK3 especially on the shadows made big steps forward. Still talking about Autofocus finally hooks well even in the dark. Removed also that annoying saturation that the old systems possessed us knows well. On the raw there is yes and no half stop of difference but the usability of the files is phenomenal if combined with the use of the OM Workspace program even at high iso and for high iso means 8000-10000. The battery is much improved, charging is very fast and the autonomy has a 30-40% more. The second battery promised in the pre-order has not yet arrived I had to buy it separately together with the charger that is sold separately for another 129 euros ... That also does not seem to me to be the right policy. On the "series" optics or 35-50-85 those 1.2 to be clear, competes quietly with FF where it detaches something in sharpness and on some bodies even on the autofocus wins hands down. Only Sony, Nikon and Canon with the recent flagship models can boast such a thing. Personally I also tried z6-2 and the autofocus for example is from another planet. What don't I like? He inherited from Sony the same "complexion" at least that's my feeling. Anyone who has switched from Nikon/Canon to Sony knows what I'm talking about. I expect great things from the new firmware, especially on the SH2 burst (the one that starts shooting before the actual press of the shutter button), something that makes you understand that you are "TAKING PHOTOS" because otherwise because of the incredible burst and the electronic shutter of hangouts full of files or worse with the SATURATED BUFFER (90 photos). Overall very satisfied, I would redo the purchase especially in relation to the cost of the system.
