Canon 60da

Has anyone tried the Canon 60Da (a for astrophotography!)?

I'm wondering it it's worthwhile to rent the 60da and try it out when I go to the Grand Canyon... I expect pretty crazy views, but I don't know how it handles. Either that, or I might try renting the 5D Mk 3. LensRentals has them both, and so I'm very curious.

From Telephoto to Macro?

Hello Everyone,

I am wondering if it's possible to turn my 70-300mm f4-5.6L IS into a macro lens by putting an extension tube on it?

I find that I can almost always get closer than 1.2 m (approximately the minimum focusing distance of my telephoto lens), which forces me to swap out for my actual macro lens (Sigma f2.8 150mm), if I have it. The problem is that I don't always have my macro lens with me, and I don't always have my tripod with me. Extension tubes or some other sort of optics solution might be much easier to carry with me into the field, and although I'm sure there's an image quality loss, I'm starting to wonder if it might be a reasonable trade-off.

Remote Flash

Hey Folks,

Does anyone use a remote flash for nature photography very often?

I use the flash quite a bit for my adventure photography, and when indoors, but I'm wondering how common it is with natural subjects, such as beetles, spiders, deer, etc?

I'm also curious what setup you use to achieve the remote trigger, such as pocket wizard?

ND Grads

Looking to buy an ND grad filter for the Grand Canyon. I'll be heading there at the end of June. Lee Filters have been recommended to me several times from several different sources, but they're extremely expensive (adapter ring + Lee Filter holder + filter itself).

I was wondering if I could just get the filter and hold it manually in front of the lens?

Also, for something like the grand canyon, what density would you suggest? I'm guessing a density of 3 stops soft? Or would you go for a hard transition?
