After university education (master's degree in natural sciences), he studied advanced training in photography at the School of Applied Arts in Vevey. He wrote his thesis on the links between exploration and photography. His documentary approach deals primarily with the complex relationships between humans and nature. His main work, The Call, is related to exploration since 2010 the wilderness of Russia, such as Siberia, Kamchatka and the Urals. His work has been exhibited in Switzerland and in France. His most recent series, M38, addresses concerns related to wilderness in Switzerland and the notion of journey, addressing the wolf's figure as a symbol of fleeting and elusive creature. This work has been the subject of a solo exhibition at PhotoforumPasquArt in 2015. Yann Laubscher received the Prix Clara Camera for his photographs taken with a large format camera from his work The Call. In 2016, he's the laureate of the Globetrotter World Photo, grant that willl allow him to continue this project. He is also nature educator in the Pro Natura Center of Champ-Pittet (La Grande Cariçaie) and member of NEAR and Strates, associations involving several photographers.
