![]() | Irix 15mm f/2.4 Pros: Screw Filters-sharpness-No Distortion Cons: If you shoot in backlight can occur in photos the presence of flare that can safely be removed in the development phase Opinion: I own this lens from April 2018 that I use as wide angle on my Nikon D750. Unlike the APS-C universe, in the Full Frame world, there are very few and rare wide-angle lenses that don't force you to assemble holder and bulky, delicate and very expensive slab filters, and that's why I chose the Irix 15 f/2.4. Probably not everyone knows that this lens is produced in two versions: Blackstone and Firefly. I chose the Firefly version. The differences between the two are as follows: The Blackstone costs more because it consists of more robust and heavier material, it is tropicalized to 100% and has phosphorescent numbers. The Firefly is cheaper and is made of lighter material, and tropicalization is partial. The lens group is exactly the same. I never go out to photograph in extreme weather situations, and for this reason I chose the Firefly. I am fully satisfied with the sharpness. I do not notice any particular coma at the edges and especially if I put the machine in bubble, the classic wide angle barrel distortions are almost absent. Those minimal distortions that can occur are easily arranged in post production, same thing with regard to the possible presence of flare. In my gallery I have several photographs made with Nikon D750 + irix 15 f/2.4 that you can go to examine. As filters for this magnificent lens I have a polarizer of nisi and a ND 1000 always of nisi. I forgot to tell you that these IRIX lenses can also fit some small jelly filters applicable on the back, but I have not had a way to try because I prefer the classic screw filters. P.S.: When I mount the 2 screw filters one on the other, first the polarizer and then the ND, there is a vignetting that however I go to eliminate in the development phase. I think I said it all. sent on December 08, 2018 |
