![]() | Olympus OM-D E-M10 II Pros: Metal body, aesthetics in general, size, sensor stabilization, good image quality. Cons: 12-bit Raw, confusing menus, battery life, contrast-resistant, very low fatigue and unused continuity Opinion: Fascinated by its vintage style, I bought this room coupled with the pancake 14-42 kit and an extra (original) battery. RnIn this configuration the olympus is really small, it can be easily carried in the pockets of a jacket or in a not necessarily photographic bag. Having a reflex, the first impact is remarkable. Transportability, however, is paid in terms of ergonomics, which in my opinion is not the best especially when holding the room with the right hand only. In fact, there is no real front grip and the only way to firmly grasp the room is to use the "claw" behind leveraging with the thumb. rnTo zoom pancakes or other light optics there are no particular problems, while with optics like the 12-40 pro it starts to feel the lack of a steady grip. The stabilizer on the sensor (5 axes and 4 stops) is fantastic and allows you to have micro-motion pictures with all the optics you decide to usewhether they are vintage or whether they are new but without stabilization. The machine has many interesting features, especially if you consider it the entry level of the OMD series: the electronic level, the depth of field preview, the histogram in the viewfinder and the display, the ability to have real-time 'exposure preview, focus peaking, the touch screen that can be used to change the point or, better to say, the AF area. Image quality is high, especially if you snap in raw and expose yourself well. I've noticed that jpg files are as good as chromium and details at low iso while they tend to be kneaded and lose detail as the machine sensitivity increases. Also, even taking raw but flipping out is not so easy to retrieve photos, especially if we are above the 1600 iso and not just talk about the grain that is still thin but of the colors that tend to rub. rnLaf is good for static subjects and in good conditionlighting while struggling in low light and continuous where even in full light does not go right. You pay the scoop of having an AF again to detect the only contrast. The autonomy is good but not comparable to a reflex, even entry level. In any case, to extend the useful life of the battery, you can activate a whole host of options such as stand by the room after a few seconds of inoperability and use a good electronic viewfinder. RnPurchase of at least one other battery is almost an obligation if you want to be quiet too because charging that only happens via external charger is not the fastest. rn sent on September 16, 2017 |
