Reviews of cameras, lenses, tripods, heads and other accessories written by DrNickL

panasonic_gm1Panasonic GM1

Pros: Super quality 16 mx images, tiny, beautifully built, excellent quality and quick-responding lcd.

Cons: Fixed screen, no adjustment wheel on the top.

Opinion: Considering that these are now so cheap, if the jpeg processor/engine is set up correctly, the quality is the same as for a GX800, with RAW output being even better than the jpeg with the sharpest lenses. I do not think you can get better from the 16 mx M43 sensor, unless stabilisation is critical to you, in which case only the G80, in my experience, is more useful. I have not tested a GX9, so cannot say whether the 20 mx sensor in that is better, but considering the GM1's price, build, size and outputs from the sharp primes I use (14, 20, and 30 and 60 Sigma Art lenses) nothing currently is as good value.
