![]() | Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 FE/RF Pros: Solid metal construction, sharpness already at TA, compact and light, AF fast and precise (at least for non-extreme use such as sport and action), bokeh Cons: Evident vignetting up to f2.8, hard focus ring and little disabled, colors maybe not at the top Opinion: Purchased for about a week this one of mine is an initial review because I couldn't thoroughly test the lens in all its features. I certainly appreciated the sharpness already very good at full opening and significantly improves from f2 to f2.8 where it is practically a blade. The worst defect is perhaps the evident vignetting at f 1.4 and partially resolved to f2, however easily solvable in post production. In general it is a great lens for what it costs, very recommended unless it is considered essential stabilization After trying it on the outside I add to the above that this lens returns a sharpness, a microcontrast and a truly exceptional incisiveness even starting from f1.4, with a truly remarkable three-dimensionality and blurr. The vignetting described above, although evident by photographing a white wall, in real conditions is really little noticeable and I consider it a fairly marginal defect. For what it costs it is absolutely to buy if you are looking for a specialist portrait lens. sent on December 25, 2020 |
![]() | Canon EOS RP Pros: Weight and size, grip and general ergonomics, menu and focus stacking (for those who use it), quality images Cons: Battery life, uncomfortable menu button position Opinion: I have had the Canon RP for about 1 year: I am fully satisfied with it, at least for the type of photos I take (mainly portraits, street, macro and some indoor sports). For years I have been using SLRs, and from now on I really appreciate the savings in weight and dimensions (especially when used with dedicated RF optics), while maintaining good ergonomics and a firm grip. The menu is very intuitive and rich. The autofocus I define excellent both as settings and in its operation especially for street and portraits, with a reserve for action photos where from good results even if there are also more responsive AF on the market (I had a 7D2...). The image quality is also excellent: 26 Mpx I find them perfect, a right size. Batteries are short-lived, but it also depends on how they are used; I solved by buying a spare battery and I have no more problems. At least 2 if not 3 batteries are needed, and the additional expense must be taken into account. Highly recommended if you want to travel light without sacrificing quality. sent on December 10, 2020 |
![]() | Canon 7D Mark II Pros: Image quality, ISO hold, burst, AF system really fast and accurate Cons: Everyone says battery life but I always have 2 with me and I use little monitor ... Even making macros feel the lack of articulated / adjustable monitors Opinion: Used for 2 weeks instead of 7D old, it's a really big step forward. I was particularly surprised by the image quality and the relatively high tallness: I usually do not exceed the 1600 (daytime photographer and with good light) and while with the 7D over the 320-400 I had to work on the files, with this the limit is Taller and I think we can talk about a gain of about 1 stop. Then, what's the point, the AF system is superlative: extremely responsive, precise and matched with a burst of fear! Many are frightened by the manual and the menu setting, but after reading the manual, the menus are well-explained and immediately felt: now navigate easily between the menus and the settings - the rest is just experience and proof ( But already with few exits I got great shots). I would also prefer to have the flexibility of using the articulated monitor, but I would say it is a secondary "defect". It would have been curious to know the benefits that he could have offered if he had been APSH, but he might have stolenTo stage some series 1 ... sent on June 02, 2017 |
![]() | Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM Pros: Light, bright, crystal clear, fast AF Cons: extra lens hood Opinion: I love this and I love this lens focal length. It gives very sharp images even at room temperature with a great fuzzy, at least considered what it costs. AF fast, good solid construction, light and compact it to me I always keep in the bag along with a few wide angle, and with little weight and volume have everything 'I need. I highly recommend it to those who make portraits half-length or full-length or even street and stolen portraits, but I also used indoors in ceremonies or events, and thanks to its brightness' (and 6D!) Has never missed a shot. sent on February 13, 2016 |
![]() | Samyang 12mm f/2.8 ED AS NCS Fisheye Pros: Sharpness, angle of extreme solidity 'constructive Cons: Lack auofocus, but ... I really need? Opinion: Purchased new less than 500 Euros, I think is the most fish eye 'economic market. Very clear even at full aperture and across the field it brings images sharply etched and contrasted. Being a 12 mm, except for close-up shots are always in focus by setting the dial to infinity focus, and you forget that and 'a manual focus. To shoot close-ups, live view saves lives (the ring of distances and not 'very precise); Also on 6D also it works in AV, and the screen contrasts the fall of brightness' that is felt in the optical viewfinder when you close the diaphragm. Really fun (to those who like the genre) and shots at a safe distance and camera horizontally without even large distortions. Highly recommended! sent on November 26, 2015 |
