l'immagine non mi convince molto specialmente nei neri  . Sembra quasi che tu abbia tagliato un po' troppo l'istogramma a bassi valori di ADU. Non credo sia questione di rumore dato che anche se hai scattato a 6400 ISO, 10 scatti e 30 secondi di posa dovrebbero "ammorbidire" il tutto.
Forse DSS non ha fatto bene il suo dovere (ma questo è un pregiudizio personale... non ho buoni rapporti con DSS  ). Hai provato a sommare con un altro programma e/o mantenendo fissa la comete e lasciando strisciare le stelle?

Purtroppo il problema è proprio DSS con l'elaborazione delle immagini delle comete con l'opzione di allineamento sulle stelle e sulla cometa. Infatti non capisco per quale motivo a volte funziona bene e a volte mi fa proprio impazzire. Purtroppo non ho provato altri programma, quando ho un po' di tempo farò altre prove. L'allinamento sulla cometa di DSS riesce abbastanza bene (ma a volte neanche quello) lasciando le stelle strisciate. A volte ho fatto un sacco di prove, con dark, con flat, senza, cambiando impostanzioni di combinazione ecc... ma a volte non ne vuole proprio sapere. Quindi morale della favola ho tagliato decisamente l'istogramma per cercare di recuperare il più possibile.
Che programma usi te per allineare le comete?

che programma uso per allineare le comete?  ... non ne uso. O meglio uso i miei soliti IRIS e PixInsight ottenendo comete ferme e stelle strisciate. L'unico programma in grado di ottenere stelle e comete fisse sembra essere DSS che però odio (anche) per i motivi che dici tu.
Ho provato ad allineare i frame rispetto alla cometa e fare una mediana (vedi mia foto della PanStarrs) ma il risultato non è il massimo. Nella sezione ricerca del mio sito ho provato a reclutare qualche informatico per lo sviluppo di un software "cometario" ma al momento nessuno ha risposto all'appello www.astrotrezzi.it/?page_id=4144 . Prima o poi ci metterò io le mani ma non ho mai tempo
