L'acconciatura delle donne Hamer è formata da sottili treccine dal nome "goscha". Per acquistare la tipica consistenza, vengono spalmate con burro, resina, polvere di ferro e argilla rossa. Spesso, soprattutto le più anziane, ornano i capelli con piume di uccelli rapaci ("sillè") o con fiori dai colori accesi ("puma"). Le donne hamer, quando si sposano, si chiudono attorno al collo una pesante collana di pelle e metallo. Le ragazze nubili invece hanno un disco metallico infilato fra i cappelli.
