La Via Maestra, ora denominata via Mensa è stata il fulcro dal '600 all'800, dell'espansione urbanistica della città di Venaria, ed è concepita per proiettarsi tra il centro storico e la Reggia vera e propria; gli edifici ai suoi lati sono uniformi, quasi monotoni, in modo che l'attenzione dei visitatori sia indirizzata verso la Reggia dei Savoia. Una fondazione di Venaria ha preso il nome di questa importante arteria e si occupa di avvicinare cittadini e turisti alle bellezze della Reggia, e si sta battendo per l'apertura del museo della cultura materiale e della storia di Venaria, che sarà aperto in Piazza Annunziata, per valorizzare la cultura locale in ogni sua forma.
