I like the photo in substance but personally I would have given the subject a little further inside and I cloned the fisherman in the background.
I say this because the subject is not well lit so a marginal position in the frame, so it does leave the scene ... my eyes are focused on the pier and fisherman immediately clear why, enlightened and central ... or at least most of the subject.
The picture, however, I find it still enjoyable and maybe in your original there is room for different cropping

Ps: sorry if I'm a young professor ...:-D:-D:-D

You quoto 100% just that I wanted to leave the fisherman to give you an idea of ??naturalness to the context of the picture!
Anyway I quiet this eye does not exist yet so I put my modest photo here, to learn and experience!
Greetings
soon

quoto the thought of Herman, but in the middle: the subject a little more left to give even more importance, the fisherman I would leave him too for what you say on the other hand, Daniel.
however, remains a great shot!
bravo!

I find instead that the composition is perfect. Clearly, the instinct would be to place the boy a bit 'more to the right, almost on the third, but in this way you would cut the tip of the pier. Needless to say, light and pastel colors are spectacular.
