Il Bucintoro torinese viene esposto alla Reggia di Venaria dopo un lungo e complesso progetto di restauro che ne ha ripristinato l'aspetto originale: è lunga circa 16 metri ed è caratterizzata da ricche decorazioni scultoree e pittoriche realizzate dall'artista veneziano Matteo Calderoni. Concepita nel 1729 presso i cantieri navali di Venezia per essere un'autentica Reggia sull' acqua, questa storica imbarcazione da parata è conosciuta anche con il nome di "La Peota dei Savoia"; il nome "Poeta" deriva dalla particolare conformazione a scafo piatto ideale per la navigazione in acque basse e ad unico ponte. Dopo quasi due anni di lavori e un viaggio di 32 giorni sul Po, il "Bucintoro del Re di Sardegna" arrivò a Torino il 4 settembre 1731, accompagnata da una gondola e da una burchiella, imbarcazione da carico che trasportava le decorazioni e l'armatura della barca smontate.L'imbarcazione reale di Carlo Vittorio Emanuele III, è ultima barca settecentesca originale veneziana esistente al mondo dopo la distruzione del Bucintoro di Venezia per sacrileghe mani francesi con la conquista napoleonica.
