Progettata e costruita tra il 1658 e il 1679 su progetto dell'architetto Amedeo di Castellamonte, la Reggia di Venaria è una delle principali residenze sabaude in Piemonte. Il complesso della Venaria, oggi patrimonio dell'UNESCO, fu commissionato dal duca Carlo Emanuele II, desideroso di avere una nuova residenza "di piacere e di caccia". La Reggia ha successivamente subito numerose modificazioni che l'hanno portata all'aspetto attuale. Veri gioielli sono la Galleria Grande, la Cappella di Sant'Uberto e la Citroniera, progettati nella prima metà del Settecento dal genio di Filippo Juvarra. Nel 2007, la Reggia è stata restituita alla fruizione del pubblico, dopo otto anni di restauri. Visitare oggi la Reggia di Venaria significa ammirare opere provenienti dalle collezioni di altre residenze sabaude, fruire di mostre temporanee di respiro internazionale, passeggiare nei ricostruiti Giardini all'italiana, lasciarsi stupire dalla magnificenza dell'architettura barocca, dalle installazioni video di Peter Greenaway e dalle sculture di arte contemporanea che animano il "Giardino delle sculture fluide" di Giuseppe Penone. La Venaria Reale offre inoltre un ricco e sempre rinnovato calendario di eventi, spettacoli, giochi e animazioni.
