Questa scultura in legno di un elefante a tre teste è stata acquistata al mercato di Bagan in Myanmar (Birmania). Nel cassettino alla base ci sono minuscoli pesi in ottone per pesare l'oppio. La povertà spinge molti contadini, in Myanmar come in Afghanistan, alla coltivazione del papavero da oppio. Negli ultimi dieci anni la produzione non ha fatto che crescere, prosperando su un traffico illegale che si è fatto beffe del blocco economico del Paese. Secondo i dati dell'agenzia Onu per la lotta alla droga , il Myanmar, il secondo produttore di oppio proprio dopo l'Afghanistan, ha aumentato i volumi del 26% nel 2013 con 870 tonnellate stimate. Quando si chiamava ancora Birmania, il Myanmar era già la principale fonte di oppio, al vertice del cosiddetto «Triangolo d'oro", al confine con Thailandia e Laos.
