Anthocharis cardamines, (Linné, 1758) Famiglia Pieridae Sottofamiglia Pierinae Apertura alare: Da 3,3 a 4,5 cm. Distribuzione in Italia: In tutte le regioni, isole comprese. Habitat: Prati e ampie radure dal livello del mare sino a 1800 m. Periodo di volo: Univoltina da aprile a maggio. Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Cardamine pratensis e varie crucifere dei generi Alliaria, Arabis, Lunaria, Biscutella, Hesperis, ecc. Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina senza macchia arancione sull'ala anteriore. Variazioni: Le femmine possono presentare sul diritto delle ali anteriori una velatura gialla (forma albertii) e in casi rari alcune macchie bianche nella zona grigia apicale. Specie simili: La femmina è simile a quella di Anthocharis damone, che però presenta il disegno verde sul rovescio delle ali posteriori su fondo giallo anziché bianco. La femmina di A. cardamines può essere confusa con le specie del genere Euchloe, ma queste ultime presentano una serie di macchie bianche nella zona apicale grigia dell'ala anteriore.
