Lutago, Valle Aurina. L'intaglio e l'uso delle maschere e delle radici in legno vanta una lunga tradizione in Valle Aurina, risale al paganesimo. Le maschere sono scolpite nel legno di pino cembro, perlopiù dipinte o tinteggiate e completate da corna vere di animali. Sono molto famose le maschere usate per la recita del teatro di San Nicolo', che si rappresentava nella Stube dei masi all'inizio di dicembre. Dall'alta Val Pusteria, dal Tirolo dell'Est , Salisburgo e dal Tirolo del Nord ha origine la "corsa dei diavoli", nella quale i ragazzi travestiti con maschere, pellicce e campane correvano attraverso i paesi e i boschi per esorcizzare il freddo e la neve. All'inizio di febbraio si ripeteva lo stesso rituale per scacciare gli spiriti invernali.
