Ali Ben Haddou è un luogo, in Marocco, protetto dall'UNESCO come Patrimonio dell'Umanità. E' nata come città fortificata, rotta carovaniera tra il deserto del Sahara e l'attuale città di Marrakech. Si trova sul fianco di una collina lungo il fiume Ouarzazate. Per arrivare alla città fortificata si percorre una strada che confina con un ambiente particolarissimo (quello, appunto, che si vede nella foto). Proprio questo luogo è stato lo scenario di film famosissimi come: Lawrence d'Arabia (1962) Il gioiello del Nilo (1985) Agente 007 Zona pericolo (1987) L'ultima tentazione di Cristo (1988) Il tè nel deserto (1990) Kundun (1997) La mummia (1999) Il gladiatore (2000) proprio nel punto fotografato è stata ricostruita l'arena dei gladiatori Alexander (2004)
