Catoptrophorus semipalmatus Monopiede, crop compositivo. Le mattine invernali sulle coste della Florida offrono ottime possibilità fotografiche per questi limicoli, in particolare nelle mattine di sole. Come molti animali selvatici in U.S.A., sono molto confidenti, è stato divertente svegliarsi all'alba, scuotersi di dosso la rugiada raccolta uscendo dalla tenda e scaldandosi al sole, assistere all'inizio delle attività alimentari di questi soggetti, compresi i simpaticissimi piovanelli pancianera ed i più rari voltapietre.
