Tre anni a rincorrerci, dal giorno in cui ne trovai una carcassa vicino a quello che sarebbe diventato il "mio" capanno. Per me che sono di Pavia, poi, a leggere in continuo quanta passione può suscitare in appassionati ricercatori come la Dottoressa Longoni, non poteva che diventare un mito. Tre anni a rincorrerci e mai un incontro. Poi ho avuto l'onore di conoscere Gianni Conca, grande Maestro del birwatching italiano, che mi fornisce qualche dritta: se vai lì dove c'è un canneto di Phragmites, vedrai che lo troverai. Stavo seguendo il volo di un Ibis che è atterrato nel canneto e avevo quasi abbandonato il mirino, quando mi sembra di avvertire un movimento: è LUI, appeso fra le canne, stupendo nella sua simpaticissima apparente goffaggine. Stiamo a guardarci per un po', mi scappa anche di pigiare il dito sul pulsante di scatto, ma solo per abitudine, troppa emozione. Poi LUI decolla e se ne va. Le foto non sono certo un granché, ma chissenefrega, adesso l'ho conosciuto anch'io.
