Nei Satra di Majuli si respira un aria strana fatta di luce ma anche di chiaroscuri... Tutto è ammantato da un aura di misticismo e cultura ma non sui può fare a meno di notare l' ambiguità di una situazione in cui durante le rappresentazioni sacre una buona parte dei monaci/attori si immedesimano in una delle mogli di Visnù. I bambini entrano nei satra da giovanissimi, per lo più portatati da famiglie in difficoltà che fanno fatica a dargli da mangiare e non possono certo garantirgli un educazione e poi da quel momento vivono in una sorta di nucleo famigliare ognuno in un proprio appartamento imparando i testi e di balli sacri.
