La cesena fosca è presente in Siberia. Specie migratrice, sverna nell'Asia meridionale e nel Sudest Asiatico. Di dimensioni simili alla cesena ha il petto macchiato di nero, il vertice del capo e la coda neri e le ali color ruggine; è presente un evidente sopracciglio bianco. Si nutre di numerosi tipi di insetti, lombrichi e bacche. Nidifica sugli alberi. La sottospecie Turdus naumanni naumanni (cesena di Naumann), che vive in un areale posto poco più a nord di quello della cesena fosca, si distingue per avere dorso e capo color marroncino, gola, petto e bordi delle remiganti primarie fulvo-rossicci e ventre bianco. Anche in questa sottospecie è presente il caratteristico sopracciglio bianco.

Similar in size to Cesena has the black spotted chest, the top of the head and the tail and the wings russet blacks; There is a clear white eyebrow. Lo scatto è fatto a Nara, in Giappone, soggetto comune che ho visto ripetutamente in varie zone del Giappone anche nei parchi cittadini, al primo avvistamento ho sperato che fosse una cesena di Naumann ben più rara, ma mi sono presto disillusa

The trip is made in Nara, Japan, common subject that I have seen repeatedly in various parts of Japan even in public parks, at the first sighting I hoped it would be a Cesena Naumann much more rare, but I soon disillusioned :-( grazie a tutti!

Non credo che se andassi in Giappone mi troverei deluso nel fotografare "solo" la Cesena fosca e non quella di Naumann, comunque la foto e' bellissima cosi come il soggetto, complimenti
