La quantità di alligatori nelle Everglades è impressionante, è possibile avvistarne decine e decine anche nei rivoli di acqua più insignificanti. Nonostante quelli non completamente celati dall'acqua sembrino calmi e tranquilli, è meglio non lasciarsi ingannare dalla loro indole, infatti molti di loro mostrano chiari segni di lotta e ferite, un classico è l'occhio cicatrizzato, ferito, od addirittura assente.
