Essendo scuro è difficilissimo azzeccare l'esposizione e, almeno con la mia 5D, se si sottoespone recuperando in post compare un fastidioso rumore. Sto diventando sempre più esigente con me stesso e mai completamente soddisfatto.

Being dark is very difficult to guess the exposure and, at least with my 5D, if you sottoespone recovering post appears an annoying noise. Credo che il nibbio bruno sia l'uccello più difficile da fotografare per le ragioni che hai detto tu. Difficile far uscire il dettaglio senza incappare nel rumore.

I think the black kite bird is more difficult to photograph for the reasons you said. Difficult to bring out the detail without running into noise.

Perfetta claudio. X il sottoala non e'difficile, di piu' e dipende dall'angolo di illiminazione. Se lui e' parallelo al terreno non hai molto margine e se esponi per le ali bruci la testa xke' al sole. Se esponi x la testa le ali vengono scure. Se il nibbio vira allora tutto sara' esposto uniformemente. Giusto maestro vincenzo?

Antonio caro quello che dici é vero.......però devi sapere che non sono mai riuscito a fotografare un nibbio bruno veramente come si deve. I problemi che ha esposto Claudio li ho sempre avuti tutti per cui altro che maestro.......sarei da bocciare a giugno.

Antonio dear what you say is true ....... but you have to know that I never managed to photograph a black kite really as it should be. The problems that exposed Claudio I have always had all that other master ....... that would fail to June.

Io ho fotografato un giovane e basta. con il 300 duplicato quasi non lo prendevo, era in totale controluce, non mi ricordo se l'hai visto. E' nella galleria rapaci2. Esposizione manuale, non espongo quasi mai nelle varie priorita' almeno se l'esposizione e' sbagliata non me la prendo con la eos. Un saluto

Vi ringrazio per i vostri commenti e le vostre spiegazioni che mi rincuorano molto! Io cerco sempre di sovraesporre di 2 stop almeno quando vedo falchi di palude o nibbi bruni ma a volte il risultato è quello che è...
Forse bisognerebbe fotografare a ISO100 per avere meno rumore ma a quel punto non so che lente o che luce bisognerebbe avere perché, almeno nel mio caso, il minimo che posso usare col 500 è ISO400.

Thank you for your comments and your explanations that heartened me very much! I always try to overexpose by 2 stops at least when I see hawks or black kites but sometimes the result is what it is ...
Maybe we should shoot at ISO100 to have less noise but at that point I do not know which lens or light that we should have because, at least in my case, the least I can use with the 500 is ISO400.
