Tender and original image :-) Was the diaphragm really full aperture? It is a curiosity that arises to me seeing the depth of field not too narrow, even with 500 mm. focal length :-)

That optics was truly remarkable as quality and yield especially at full opening.
I used it on eos with a ring that did not allow control of the diaphragm.
So you were forced to work with an open aperture otherwise the focus would have been very difficult.
Obviously just one shot and then focus.
Virtually no chance to take burst shots.
So carpe diem. :-D
Now fortunately I have the same lens in AF version and for a few years I also had the 300mm 2.8 that I gave up (both wonderful lenses).
Of course the zooms are more immensely more comfortable but the fixed ones of those years always give satisfaction.

Quella ottica era veramente notevole come qualità e resa specialmente a tutta apertura.
La utilizzavo su eos con un anello che non permetteva il controllo del diaframma.
Quindi eri costretto a lavorare con diaframma aperto altrimenti la messa a fuoco sarebbe stata molto difficoltosa.
Ovviamente un solo scatto e poi metti a fuoco.
Praticamente nessuna possibilità di fare scatti a raffica.
Quindi carpe diem.
Come ai tempi della pellicola.
Ora per fortuna ho lo stesso obbiettivo in versione AF e per qualche anno ho avuto anche il 300mm 2.8 che ho ceduto (entrambi obbiettivi meravigliosi) .
Certo gli zoom sono decisamente più comodi ma i fissi di quegli anni danno sempre molta soddisfazione.
