, 1/60 f/9.0, ISO 100, tripod. Lagazuoi, Italy.

I recognized the place and time ;-)
Even you have done a great job.
Only an illustration of the PP is more than reputable.
While that Hilary emphasizes the graininess of the snow in the wind, your son in this beautiful little jewels that sparkle in the light of dawn.
Of course the sun is a bit 'burnt, but, as you point out, the conditions were not of help ;-)
Compliments.

Raffaele Marco and Marina
thanks a lot of comment, it makes me really happy because it was not easy at all, especially the PP, which had the objective of maintaining the scene as natural as possible

Given the conditions you could not do much better.
A nice backlight that brings out the icy pinnacles.
Gianmarco Bravo. Hello! Sergio:-P ;-)

Shooting in those conditions, even seeing the contribution of photos of Hilary, I honestly do not even know how you did to remove the SLR and even comporre.poi you've managed to move the side stand and take three shots with focused differentiwow!
If you told me that you had with the laptop also did the post production on the spot I would send you to hell:-D
I with a wind like this (at least I can imagine) I took some pictures which are finite straight into the trash once opened on PC :-(
congratulations on your tenacity, but also for the passion for the mountains of which exude your photos.

While Hilary is dedicated to represent the power of nature, thou hast devoted more to his creativity by focusing on those icicles illuminated by the sun ... this is to say that the nature of eachits shape, even at the same time strikes us and incurioscisce each in its own way depending on our feelings, and that is what makes it so straordinaria.grazie for letting us share in this experience
I was wondering what was the physical principle that formed the "stalagmites" ice

thanks guys!! I'm so glad you like it

I opened the folder and I counted, I have 36 shots taken in the same position and only 3 are able to combine them. you would not believe how after a few seconds the light changed and the wind picking up too much snow.
The secret is to stand by the study as defined by ilario that I brought up (3.5 kG) well well planted in the snow and held it down with her hands

I was wondering what was the physical principle that formed the "stalagmites" ice
I did this instead of an answer, I did see around the picture but it still remains a mystery to me how they have formate.l 'idea that I have is the fact that the day before the afternoon sun melted the snow and strong wind, pushing the goccioline which then solidified, but I honestly do not know

hello and thank you very much gianmarco

Gianmarco Bravissimo!
Make three shots in those conditions I miss is crossed our minds. True that you had a "rock" of the stand, but the conditions (backlight, wind, snow) were really difficult.
I really like the color contrast hot / cold of this image and the exaltation of small ice stalagmites "turned on" by the sun. Bella!
Congratulations :-):-P

Thank you very much Hilary, it was really a nice moment, to remember

Simon: To be honest in straight lines is more a problem of volume and weight. If you then do a tour together, I have put in a backpack to carry your attrezzatua if I did not do:-D:-D:-D
