Questa però non è una luna in eclisse! La Luna si vede rossa anche quando è bassa sull'orizzonte perchè la sua luce attraversa uno strato più spesso di atmosfera e quindi aumenta l'effetto di filtro nei confronti delle radiazioni a lunghezze d'onda inferiori (blu).
Durante la fase totale delle eclissi invece, la Luna è rossa perchè in quel momento non è più illuminata direttamente dal Sole ma solo dalla luce solare riflessa dalla Terra , che prima di essere riflessa attraversa l'atmosfera, che filtra la componente blu e lascia passare quella rossa. In tutto questo gioca un ruolo la diffusione differenziale delle componenti della luce che tu citi, ma dal punto di vista pratico è semplicemente come se l'atmosfera di comportasse come un filtro.
Penso che nel tuo caso la Luna fosse molto bassa e ci fosse anche un bel po' di foschia.
