Assistere al rituale di corteggiamento dello Svasso maggiore (Podiceps crestatus) è un'esperienza unica ed emozionante. Il maschio chiama la femmina con un rauco verso e si avvicinano fino a quando non gonfiano le creste e iniziano a muovere le teste a destra e a sinistra. In alcuni casi, si tuffano insieme e riemergono con un'alga. Si avvicinano e inizia quella che viene chiamata la "danza del pinguino".
