cit. National Geographic: "...L'alleanza simbiotica più nota è però quella che l'anemone stringe con il pesce pagliaccio. Quest'ultimo è ricoperto da uno strato di muco protettivo che lo rende immune alla puntura dell'anemone. Il pesce pagliaccio vive tra i tentacoli dell'anemone, che gli offrono riparo dai predatori, mentre l'anemone può usufruire dei residui di cibo del pasto del pesce pagliaccio..."
Anche altri tipi di pesce (oltre i pagliacci) mettono in atto questa simbiosi.
cit. National Geographic: "... The most famous symbiotic alliance, however, is the one that holds the anemone with clown fish. Latter is covered with a layer of protective mucus which makes it immune to the sting dell'anemone. Clown Fish live among the tentacles dell'anemone, which provide shelter from predators, while the anemone can take advantage of the food residues of the clown fish meal ... "
