really good subject and framing correct.

How can I improve sharpness?

photoshop is the Filter> Sharpen> Unsharp Mask. But perhaps it would be better a more comprehensive approach to post production and then I would advise you to first read you calmly items that are here, in the box titled "Post-production with Adobe Photoshop": www.juzaphoto.com/index2. php? l = en & pg = articles

How can I improve the sharpness?

Good question! Meanwhile, the 18mm focal length seems strange to me, sure? Then the 18-70 to that opening is a bit morbidino.
Lowering the time you would have gained some value on the diaphragm. Something then in pp with the contrast filter
also sharpen said ... hello.

Meanwhile, thanks to all. Unfortunately my knowledge of post production is zero ... and will also now start studying!

If these pictures do not take you long to learn what you need to post, I would say virtually ZERO! Quoto the background for the sharpness / clarity. Not far from the front c 'is a rectangle that I do not understand, what is it? Igor

Hello Igor. The rectangle you see behind the man is only a reflection on the wall, a beam of light which, if I remember correctly, reflected on a painting or something like that.
Claudio, I remembered this man has a portrait of Leonardo ... has been a beard!
Unfortunately, as always happens when you take the street or in a similar situation, you have no time to think. I did my best! Thank you all!

Quoto Ernesto. The photo is very nice for the light and the expressiveness of the subject. I, for my taste, not on portraits insistereri too much about sharpening in PP, also given the age of the subject. Sometimes in tight close-ups I sometimes even take a bit of sharpness to avoid being too ruthless with the "signs of the time" ... In my limited experience, however, as the PP work miracles, the lens you use is crucial to have good sharpness.
Hello

Very nice light on the beard and the expression of the eyes.
Also, since you have not done pp, I would say that the starting point is already very good.
